I tote it around the house some, but it's used mostly in the living room. As a former network admin, I'm well aware of the danger of the "head crash," so I am more gentle with my laptops (and iPods) than some might be. That said, drives have come a long way since it was verboten to move a desktop PC while the drives were spun up. I can't remember if it was this list, or the TiBook/X4U list, but there were extended discussions on backup strategies. When I saw the status (not available when booting from the software install and recovery DVD - !?!?), I backed the drive up using Mike Bombich's "Carbon Copy Cloner." I've been booting from that backup firewire disk - but am heading to the Apple store this morning. So, long story short, just be careful of sharp, jarring drops or movements - particularly when the laptop is on (and not sleeping). The designers have to take into account a certain amount of movement, it is a portable device, after all.
