My iBook (G3/900) blew sky-high (as in, repeated "waiting for boot drive" messages in single-user mode) this morning trying to do a system update. I don't think it got past the QuickTime 7.0.3 update, actually. I hope running Disk Utility off the boot CD will fix it... right now I'm at work, iBook is at work, & the boot CD is at home, so it'll have to wait for tonight. If that doesn't do it, I'll have to figure out some way to back the thing up to the wife's G4 dualie. If this isn't a hardware failure, this would be the first time I've had a Mac fail that spectacularly, and I've been using them at work since the 512K Fat Mac days & at home since the IIsi days. -- Larry (using web mail for obvious reasons)
