My son's clamshell iBook has developed the annoying problem of (occasionally) not being able to wake from sleep. It is an intermittent problem, probably occurring about 1/3 to 1/2 the time. He puts the iBook to sleep (either by using the menu command or just closing the lid) and it fails to wake the video. You can hear the HD come up but the screen stays black. Holding down the power button forces a restart and the iBook boots normally. He doesn't get the more common problem (from what I've found on a web search) of the gray screen or flashing ? on restart. Here are the machine particulars: Graphite 366 MHz iBook (no FW) 96 MB RAM VM off Mac OS 9.2.2 Airport 2.0.4, turned on Third-Party Apps he uses: Claris Works 6.2.8 Netscape 7.0.2 I found several articles by Charles Moore on the "Sleep of Death" issue on PBs in general, and a few discussion forums (lots of discussion, but not much in the way of solutions), but not much else. Thanks for any light you can shed on this. Regards, Bob Eye Dallas, TX
