[iBook] Asking for advice about a CD Combo drive

Hei Stephen and all of who tried to help me. My problem lies on the 
optical drive. What shall I can do know?

To buy a new intern optical drive will cost me a lot. If I buy an 
external one, what you think? I am very concern about booting. If 
someday I have the necessity to install again my operating system, can I 
do that, do I need a special external optical drive?
