[iBook] Graphite clamshell to give?

Thank you very much for all these precious infos...
I will indeed procede as describe...
I wonder,...if I can't find an original spare part  replacement for the 
Ibook, or if it is just too expensive for the age of this machine...If 
I just disconect it ...do you think that I could just plug an external 
keyboard, so it could than be recognized by the IBook itself, as THE 
keyboard of this machine?

Just wondering?
