[iBook] Display dimming

I have a dual usb ibook 500 with os x 10.4.4

My screen will dim when I am away and does not return to full brightness.  I
have it set to normal in energy saver.
Is there someway to have it not dim?   I prefer not having to go to the
display in system preferences over and over again.
