[iBook] iBook won't charge/start?

I have an iBook 14/600 here that was left setting without being plugged in
or battery charged long enough that the battery (-ies?) have run down.  It
will not start...even when plugged in, its dead to the world.  Is there some
trick to get it going again?  Or what part fails and has to be replaced to
make these work again?  I tried a charged battery from a 12 inch
ibook...where the battery connector seemed to mate (of course the battery is
too small physically to mate and lock in place) but that didn't seem to
work.  I've had it set on wall power for weeks with no response.  So
something has died or discharged that doesn't charge back up...but  what and
how to fix it or work around it to get the 'book going again?  Thanks.
