Yuppers. The only way around this is to get a USB dongle and disable, 
remove your airport card. As a user of MintPPC, there is a pretty 
extensive list of support hardware. I know for a fact there are more 
than a few dongles that can be had for less than fifteen dollars that 
will allow WPA WEP etc. While the USB 1.1 interface will bottle neck you 
a bit, your over all surfing experience will be noticeably faster.
