MP3 wins there, but not when comparing AAC @ 128kbps to MP3 @ 160kbps. I
assume that AAC @ 192 kbps sounds just as good or better than MP3 @ 256kbps.
Every head to head comparison using the same sampling rate that I've seen
has AAC winning and within 30-60kbps, there isn't a discernable difference.
What you compared is almost 2x the sampling rate. I would hope that it
sounds better. If you like to keep your files at such a good sampling then I
would recommend using 192 kbps for encoding your CD's into iTunes. Of course
if you buy from the Apple Music Store you only get 128kbps songs.
