    Well, for all the 'one-hit-wonders' of the 80's (and even some of 
the 70's), I've made the genre simply called "80's"... that makes it 
easy for moi to make a smartlist for "80's" and "5-star songs", for 
example.
    Of course, every track has has a "Year" tag, meaning what year it 
was released, not ripped. That should make it. You might be mistaking 
the "Date Added" for the "Year" tag, and they are most definitely not 
the same.
    And finally, in order to enjoy MP3s fully, you must indeed put some 
work into it, and edit the tags correctly, especially if something is 
important to you, like year recorded.
