[iTunes] iPod sorting?

Hi,
How in the world does the iPod sort songs within the different 
playlists?

The songs at the top of the playlist are by the artist who's name comes 
first in the alphabet, but the song I just added recently are at the 
bottom of the list even though that is not where they should be if the 
playlist is sorted alphabetically

  I would like for the songs in my playlists to appear in alphabetical 
order by song.

Is there any way to make the playlists sort the way I want?
