[CUBE] The thing to replace HDs

IBM, Stanford University, and others have been working on storing and
retrieving data holographically. The links below explain it better than
I can, but what they do is use a laser, and a detector to imprint and
retrieve data from a photosensitive medium. The system has no moving
parts. One of the media that they have been experimenting with is a
cube of crystal. So.. Someday your round, flat noisy hard drive in your
computer could be replaced by a small noiseless cube! They're going in
the right direction!
