Matt, First of all, thanks for clearing this up to all of us in the list. I live in Europe and I really never got a chance to buy music from the iTunes Music Store as it is still not (unfortunately) implemented by Apple Computer in here. It was never my intention to mislead or make false statements about converting AAC files, and my hint/reply was based on a strictly personal experience. I remember I once converted a whole CD in AAC format to my hard disk drive and I was then able to reconvert it to mp3 format. AAC files purchased from the iTunes Music Store are encoded with Apple's FairPlay DRM (digital rights management) software. iTunes does not directly support converting "protected AAC" files to another format (MP3 or otherwise). >>>> rod at eslickdesign.com - 2003/12/11 14:36 PM >>> > This was mentioned in an e-mail some time back-is there a way to resave > the ACC files purchased from the > iTunes store as MP3's? TIA, Rod What you can do is burn the "protected AAC" file to an audio CD, then re-rip it in whatever format you like, including regular AAC, MP3, AIFF, WAV... whatever. Cheers!
