I have used both Xpod and iPod Download and they have worked just 
fine for me.  Xpod is a third party application.  It will download 
the entire iPod to the computer's HD.  iPod Download is a plugin for 
iTunes and requires a little hacking to work under the latest version 
of iTunes as Apple is none too pleased to have a way OUT of the iPod 
through iTunes.  iPod Download allows individual song downloads from 
the iPod.
