[DuoList] Speaking of modems...

For the most part, the "generic Hayes compatible" will do it. It
depends on the specifics of the D-Link modem.

I've just looked at the user guide for it
(http://www.dlink-intl.com/technical/drivers.nsf/0/a38a61b390f484f548256d10003e8515/$FILE/DFM-560EL_Manual.zip)
and it appears to be a fairly standard AT command set supporting
modem. You can try using Z-Term to talk to the modem directly and giving
it commands like "AT" (for attention) and seeing if you get an "OK" in
response.

If that doesn't work, try to find a Macintosh high-speed modem
cable because your Palm cable may not work. The high-speed modem cable
supported hardware handshaking from the Mac to the modem so they could
better negotiate a communication speed. Otherwise, try using a slower
modem script...generic v.28 or v.32. They were often bundled with
external USRobotics modems.

I'm doing this from memory, so write me back if you don't see what
I imagine. S:)
