I had a bad experience w/ Verizon DSL, which ran at roughly 64k and 
needed a small
bit of software that Mac programs couldn't deal with.(see through)
Their support was similarly PCcentric.
I am sour on DSL and love my optimum cable.
That said, sometimes, regardless of what it is, you have to reset the 
modem.
Turn it off, turn it back on.
