I can't respond to most of your questions but I have been running ClarisCad on my G4 dual 1.25 firewire 400 in Classic mode, OS X 10.3.9.  There are one or two tricks but it runs fine.  This was the last PMac that would boot OS 9 ( I believe that a later firewire 800 version would not) but I very seldom do that since Classic seems to work fine for what little of the old software I use.  I have been looking for a replacement for CCad that is OS X native and affordable.   I haven't bought it yet but so far the best replacement I have been able to test seems to be RealCad.  It is quite close in function and interface to CCad with a few improvements.
