[G4] Help, Computer won't shut down

I have a QS 800MGZ, running 10.4.6 , 1 gig memory and 2 HDs, lately  
it has refused to shut down, it goes through the steps until it  
reaches the blue screen with the segmented circle spinning and  
remains there.
I have run Applejack and Cocktail and it has not made any difference.
Any tips or help would be appreciated.
