Hi Gang, For Petie's sake, the bloody battery costs around ten bucks and takes just a few minutes to replace. Isn't that a pretty cheap price to help an old buddy? Much better than paying $100 for a repairman or buying a new machine! That's my two bits. If it's under 3.2 volts I'd replace it. Also, if the reading seems okay at first, but then the volts start going down, I'd replace it.
