Tom,

If the UPS you ordered has a USB connection.
Just plug it into the Mac being supported.
Then look in your "System Preferences" under
"Energy Saver" select the drop menu item "Setting for".

You may be presently surprised to see that computer management while on the
battery backup is already support.
