[G4] Adding a Western Digital 160HD

I'm not sure how to format the new drive in OS10.4.
From everything I have tried to read on installing a second WD160HD as a slave to my Seagate Barricuda 80HD Master on a G4 QS, I think I'm supposed to partition it (format it?). If I RAID it that will erase all my info on my old 80HD (that would be bad because I can't back up to my external HD or burn to DVD). I'm not sure about how many partitions to pick (is one OK?). I think I'm best using the Mac OS Extended (journaled) option in the Format: I see the option to Install Mac OS9 Disk Drivers so I checked that. I'm just waiting for someone that knows more, to say that's wrong or to give me the green light before I melt everything down on accident.
I have called Apple but they want $49.00 for every problem and I don't have much extra cash for 100 problems.
Thanks for the help so far,
Joe

For the Disk Utility I'm not sure what settings I should use for the
RAID Set Name: ?
Volume Format: ?
RAID Type: Mirrored Raid Set
                 Striped Raid Set
             Or Concatenated Disk Set
I was having problems with my original 80Gbytes HD, because it is so full, so I'm trying to use the new HD as a back up so I can get my files on a DVD or CD or if my new firewire port works my external Lacie 200GB HD.
Lots of options not sure best choice.
Thanks for all the help I'm new at all this!
Joe

Looks like if the WD160 is ATA Compatible, I don't need to change the pin configuration from 7,8. If not compatible, I need to add a jumper across the 5,6 too. Do I try a start up to see if it is compatible? Or how do I find out before?
Thanks
