Greetings Umar ( + )!( + )

I have a 1998 G4 PowerMac AGP Graphic that I bought NEW.
I don't know if the others commenting on this subject are correct or
not but my HDD's located in the original slots, located at the back of
the case are not set for "Master/Slave" because with the original
PowerMac AGP the drive are set for "Cable Select"

If you pull out the little cable that connects the two drive together
you will see where the cable is not a straight trough cable. I haven't
looked in a long time but if the drive do not have a "Cable Select'"
setting then I think that they are both set for "Master"

You'll find that if you switch the the settings on the drives (the one
on top from slave to master) that the one on the bottom still loads as
the first drive (Master) and the only way to change it is to change
it's locatation on the cable. The one closest to the mother board is
the "Master"

By the way I have four (4) drives in this old G4. In the original
locations at the back of the case I have a
"Master" Western Digital WD1200JB-00DUA3 111.79GB formatted, the as
"Slave" I have a Maxtor Maxtor 6Y120P0
114.5GB formatted capacity. Then up front I have a Western Digital
SATA WDC WD3200AAJS-0
298.09GB formatted capacity connected via ACARD 6280M, and a Maxtor
300 297.97GB formatted capacity connected via Ultra-Tek 133P+
controller card. That's a total of 822.35GB internal plus a Maxtor
200GB on a Firewire connection.

So my advice is set your drives to cable select it there is a setting
otherwise set them both to "Master"
