Do you by chance have a PCI ATA/IDE interface card installed (even if it's not running your capture drives)?  If so, then that is the problem.  If not, then do you have your 10k drives installed on the "stock" internal SCSI chain, or connected to a faster SCSI card (at least UltraSCSI or UltraWide)?  If you have them on the internal SCSI, then that's the bottleneck.  There isn't enough info in your post to really say.  Maybe putting the FireWire card in one of the top 3 PCI slots?  I know there was a problem with PCI on these machines with G4 cards.  Or maybe you need to put the FireWire card in one of the bottom 3 slots?  Anybody know for sure?

I don't know if that helped or made it worse.  How about a complete system configuration description?
