Just think, by the time you receive your spanking new 17" PB, Apple will
probably have just announced a new one that may have 970 G4 chips (maybe two
under one hood) and run at 1.7 ghz.

The same thing happened right after I took delivery of my 1 Ghz Titanium
Powerbook just after Christmas.
