Hello Stephen,

You might want to have a look at "Optix", it is cross-platform 
compatible. A great document manager that many law firms and 
corporations use. There are others that also support PowerPoint for 
presentation, as well as industrial-strength apps to search huge 
document databases for specific text, etc.

Also, you might want to give Randy Singer's site a look at:

Randy is an attorney and also was a heavy contributor to several 
editions of the Macintosh Bible. He's knowledgeable and very happy to 
help out fellow Mac users, especially attorneys. When I read through 
your letter [above] I realized your question re: VPC was 'over my 
head', however, by coincidence the one app I knew of [Optix] was also 
the first one listed in Randy's site, under "Document management".
