I took my first one apart when it stopped working entirely, and it is a difficult, but not impossible, soldering job. Since mine was still under warranty (and if I butchered it up it would not be) I decided to get a replacement (spoke to Apple at 4pm, had it the next am). If it happens again, and the new one shows no signs of breaking, I'll fix it, but I've been soldering for over 30 years (I soldered my first computer in 1979) so I have some experience. You don't want to be shorting these things out. -- Roger
