The choice of CPU has nothing, but nothing, to do with support for firewire. And what do you mean "Intel uses only USB 2.0"? Many Intel and AMD based PCs ship with firewire support on the motherboards. But it is nonsense to talk about what Intel is using, it is the motherboard/pc manufacturers who make this choice, and as I said many of them do support firewire. Many PC users use firewire hard drives and firewire connections to DV cameras. But in any case, this is not about OS X running on standard PCs. It is about Apple manufacturing Macintosh computers that happen to have intel CPUs. And Apple have not in any way indicated that they are dropping firewire. So the answer is that if you want to ditch your firewire drives I don't suppose anyone will stop you, but you can fully expect new Macs to continue supporting firewire. --Ian On 7 Jun 2005, at 23:03, John Griffin wrote: > Ok, then maybe you could answer me this: > > What the hell is going to happen to Firewire (both 400 and 800). > Since Intel uses only USB 2.0, I would have to expect that very > soon those of us with very large FW800 drives will be left to > dangle in the wind! > > jg > > On 7-Jun-05, at 1:42 PM, Timothy Luoma wrote: > >
