[Ti] Pesky PMU

Dear All,

A few months ago, the PMU icon on the upper right side of the top menu 
of my Ti 1 GHz, Mac OS 10.3.9  1GB RAM G4 PowerBook decided to develop 
an "x" inside the battery shaped icon. Resetting the PMU did the trick 
for a while, but now I find myself needing to reset it time and again. 
Is there anyway to abolish this annoying flip flop? Is this a pram 
battery problem?
