[Ti] OT - mac & gps

after a little research:

both tomtom and garmin devices have a "pedestrian" mode.
tomtom is more mac-friendly
tomtom devices (one and one xl) have poor battery life, around 2h.  
not good when you're walking around

since neither tomtom nor garmin provide useable maps of japan (where  
i will be driving in august) i will be postponing the acquisition of  
a gps device until my next big road trip.
