Have you looked at: http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/mametaro/index-e.html Actually, if you enter "gps japan maps" in the Google search field you will find quite a few hits. Enter "Garmin" or "Tom Tom" as well, you could cut down the link list considerably. The reason I got a Garmin over the Tom Tom is that the Garmin built- in maps have much more detail when it comes to rural roads and trails. They also seem to have a more up-to-date list of POIs. Good Luck... jg On 25-Jul-07, at 8:27 AM, alexandre wrote: > after a little research: > > both tomtom and garmin devices have a "pedestrian" mode. > tomtom is more mac-friendly > tomtom devices (one and one xl) have poor battery life, around 2h. > not good when you're walking around > > since neither tomtom nor garmin provide useable maps of japan > (where i will be driving in august) i will be postponing the > acquisition of a gps device until my next big road trip. > > thanks to all who helped, > > alexandre > :: 17" 2.33ghz ic2d macbook pro / 2.0gb / 160gb / X.4.10 :: > :: 24" 2.33ghz ic2d imac / 2.0gb / 250gb / X.4.10 :: > > > > _______________________________________________ > Titanium mailing list > Titanium at listserver.themacintoshguy.com > http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/titanium
