A 14" iBook made/sold in January would be able to boot OS 9; it's the same model as it is today, though it is a machine/unit made in 2003. I strongly doubt that Apple is going to go to whatever trouble necessary to *break* OS 9 compatibility in the middle of a model production. It's much more likely that new models will be designed/introduced without backwards compatibility - and that's exactly what the news release I read says. KeS
