I have an iMac dv 400, g3 and an external firewire drive (Maxtor 40 gig) which contains my osx2.2. I boot regularly off this drive. The internal drives contain OS9 and Yellow Dog Linux. By holding the option key down when rebooting I can choose which drive to reboot to. This didn't work too well in previous versions of OSX but now works like a jewel in the latest OSX revision. Hope this helps, Bob On Friday, December 13, 2002, at 09:23 AM, Jerry Wilson wrote: > > On Friday, December 13, 2002, at 06:12 AM, Sean Lytle wrote: > >>> I'm considering installing X on my external 80G FW drive > > I believe any G3 and below cannot boot off of a FW Drive. > > Jerryw > > > ......people may forget what you say or even do, but they will always > remember how you made them feel. > > > ---------- > Check out the Mac OS X email list FAQ > http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/X.html > > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <X-Newbies-off at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > <X-Newbies-digest at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > Need help from a real person?
