Hanging after SLEEP restart

I need some help in figuring out a problem with the SLEEP mode in OS X.

  A couple of times the computer has been put to sleep and when I
restart(with keystroke) it starts up and hangs with the mouse and the
keyboard not being responsive. I then need to restart the computer to make
it work again.

 I'd be curious to hear if anyone else has the same problem or a solution to
the hassle.
