New "Path Finder" is way ahead of Panther's Finder

Well, I was wondering Panther with its "improved" Finder was going to
convince me to give up some of my third-party utilities. For Path Finder
(the "alternative" Finder for power users) at least, the answer is quite the
opposite.

After upgrading to Panther and discovering that Apple had eliminated
"Favorites" from their "Go" menu, and also eliminated the corresponding
keyboard shortcut, ARGHHHH!!, I downloaded Path Finder version 3. Among the
new features I found is hand "Drop Stack" in which you temporarily "park"
items you're drag-n-dropping. So obviously useful - why hasn't anyone
thought of this before? Path Finder has a customizable Shelf that makes the
one in the "new" Finder look pathetic. It's got secure delete, text editor,
hex editor; all built in. Also, every few months I need to use Terminal to
empty the .Trash on my backup firewire drives. Well, no more. Instead of
just "Empty Trash, Path Finder has a "Trash" submenu which lets me choose
the disk whose trash I want to empty. And last but not least, you get to
choose between a dozen different backgound and text colors, ("themes"). We
all don't have to look at black-on-white all day.

You won't see the Finder running on my Mac any more.

Jerry
