No reason unless, as a previous responder noted, Albert's only paid for one .Mac account. Additional acct's are $10/year and until he's paid for one, entering anything in the preferences will result in error messages because the new (unfunded)email address can't be found on Apple's servers. He can, however, enter other valid email addresses from other servers on which his email is stored and Mail will download those, as I do with my Comcast email.
