[X-Newbies] Default account in Mail (Tiger) won't stay default.

I am having a little, but very irritating problem with the Mail app in
Tiger. The "#€% program won't maintain a consistent default account.
Very irritating as I use different accounts for personal stuff and
work. If I don't really watch out, I sometimes end up sending
something private through my work account. Not a good idea. Does
anyone have any good ideas as to how to fix this?
