I just noticed unzip has disappeared from /usr/bin, locate(1) still finds the name in its database. AFAICT the only suspicious thing I've done lately has been to run the Perl script used to uninstall Development tools, to do a fresh install of the recently published Xcode Tools 2.2.1. bunzip2 and gunzip are there. Does this ring any bell? -- fxn
