When you have preview turned on and when you click the link, tinyurl.com opens and shows you the actual URL. But for this to work, you have to know to go to tinyurl.com and turn it on. You also have to accept a cookie from them. Some people are unwilling/unable to do it. If you must put a tinyurl in your message, is it so much to ask to have you put the complete url in also?
