The "getting worse with time" sounds like a connector problem.
You might try some contact cleaner on the connectors.  If you
want a new keyboard, here's a place that will trade you for
your old one (they apparently fix them and resell them):

kind of steep, but I didn't see anyone else selling them at
any price.  I assume Apple still has them for $$$.

Interestingly enough, they also sell individual keys and those
little scissor things that support them.  If you really have
a mechanical problem, that might be a cheaper route to fix
it, but it doesn't sound mechanical.
