[iTunes] converting .aiff files to .mp3

I give up!  I went back and thought I'll try to copy tracks 9, 10, & 
11. They copied like a dream. Then I went to iTunes to see if the CD 
would play on my computer. It did. Every track.  Then tried to 
convert track 10 to mp3....for once it worked!  Today I'm thinking 
this is operator error. But what I'm doing wrong is beyond me!  -L
