I did eventually find those files, from a small, dim link on the left side of the Support page. I've made a folder of the instructions (and URLs to them) and stuffed it to send to future folks. The button should be discreet but obvious. I was being metaphorical anyway. But .Mac should have an easy-to-find button labeled Connect to a .Mac User's Public folder. This should be dead simple, not a list of instructions buried in a discussion group. It's one of the services ..Mac users are paying for.
