[X4U] X-serve vs. Mac Pro as server

Hiya Jim,

I believe the rack mounted XServe is much louder than a standard tower so
having it sit on your desk (or thereabouts) will get tiresome real quick.

Also, having a Server double as your workstation, while saving you money,
I don't believe is a good move because there will be MANY times when you
wish to reboot for whatever reason (perhaps applications aren't responding
as they should or you have just installed something which requires
rebooting or whatever). Interrupting everybody else who's tied to your Mac
becomes irritating for them and very restrictive for you as a user. Best
leave Servers running alone.

Do your sums to see what the difference between the XServe bundled with
OSX Server software and a standard workstation with OSX Server bought
separately and that'll give you an idea of the savings. I believe a
standard workstation should serve you well enough.

Just some thoughts.

Best 'o luck!
