Yes.

1. Try booting up in "safe mode" (hold down shift key when booting). If 
the problem disappears, then you have a third-party "extension" that is 
causing the problem.

2. Try creating a new user (admin level) and add NOTHING to the 
default. Again, this will help determine if the problem is being caused 
by Apple's software or a third-party.
