I have 16222 songs in my iTunes library.
It works fine, though sometimes it seems slow - but that may be because
99% of my mp3s are on a Linux server in the basement.
I don't know if there is a limit (I seem to remember someone once said 32k
songs, but don't quote me on that), but you can aloways grab 'iTunes
Library Manager' from MacUpdate or VersionTracker.
