Welcome ! 

I never had any HW trouble with my 500 mhz IceBook .. It runs 10.2.6 just
fine ... Sure NOW that I also have a 1 Ghz G4 TiBook, it seems quite slow
... Some things don;t work as great (would not want to try watching a Divx
movie or playing Jedi Knight 2 on this baby)

Depends a bit on what you want to do ... Like rendering in iMovie and
Photoshop will take long(er) ..

If you just want a nice portable machine for email and browsing ... Then you
can go cheaper :)
