[P1] Slow Floppy

I don't know if this would be relevant, but is the floppy formatted for 
Mac or MS-DOS?

I was using a USB flash-RAM that was very slow, and was formatted for 
MS-DOS. I re-formatted it for Mac-OS and the speedup was spectacular.
