You could also try looking at the output from Console.app - see if 
there's anything relevant to Safari in there. Failing that, ditch the 
prefs for Safari and failing that reinstall Safari. Also, 10.2.8 (which 
runs very nicely on my iBook) also contains some small fixes for Safari, 
which _may_ help.
