I have heard that the problem may be on the logic board AP/BT socket, and not fixable by replacing the AP/BT board. The only alternative is an external WiFi dongle. Have you heard this? Thanks for the info in any case, Jim. --- On Thu, 9/9/10, Randy Godfrey <randy3833 at yahoo.com> wrote: From: Randy Godfrey <randy3833 at yahoo.com> Subject: Fw: Re: [iBook] iBook G4 12" 1.33 Ghz Kernel Panic Error "You Must restart your computer" To: jaimesbeam at yahoo.com Date: Thursday, September 9, 2010, 10:00 AM I forgot to add this to the email. check out this page for KP trouble shooting. http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html Randy --- On Thu, 9/9/10, Randy Godfrey <randy3833 at yahoo.com> wrote: From: Randy Godfrey <randy3833 at yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [iBook] iBook G4 12" 1.33 Ghz Kernel Panic Error "You Must restart your computer" To: "A place to discuss Apple's iBook computers." <ibook at listserver.themacintoshguy.com> Date: Thursday, September 9, 2010, 6:54 AM Hi Jim, It is quite possible, but not certain that your KPs are caused by your airport/bluetooth card. It just happened to me and replacing the card corrected the problem. Here is the link to the iFixit instructions to replace the card. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-iBook-G4-12-Inch-1-33-GHz-AirPort-Bluetooth-Board/707/1 After you remove the existing card, slide your battery under the frame and push it in place to connect it and jump the tiny gold pins carefully on the logic board power socket just briefly to power it on. Notice if your KP issue persists. If it powers on normally, then replace the card. Make sure the new one is clicked firmly into place, pushing down on the card directly over the connector. Good Luck! Supposedly this is related to the Airport Extreme/Bluetooth Card. I'd like to see if I still get the error is I remove the AP/BT card. However there is no AP/BT card under the keyboard. Supposedly the AP/BT is mounted directly on the logic board. But I can't find any more info about the error or how to remove the AP/BT card/ Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Jim. _______________________________________________ iBook mailing list iBook at listserver.themacintoshguy.com http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/ibook -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
